This page walks you through a first lesson with me in order, from the first message to the moment you sit up at the end. It is the same whether you have never done yoga or have practised for years.

When you are ready, you can book a private yoga lesson on Viber. If you want to see the price and what it covers first, it is all on the page with my lesson price.

Whether you are in a Quezon City condo or a Kapitolyo house, a first lesson runs the same way: see private yoga in Quezon City, a private yoga teacher in Kapitolyo or lessons at your condo in Mandaluyong for the local details.

Before the lesson: the Viber message and what I ask

It starts with a message. Tell me where you are in Metro Manila, which days and times suit you, and a line about why you want to start. It can be as simple as “I sit at a desk all day and my back is stiff.” I will ask you one thing in return: “Where did you find me?”

Then we agree the time and the place. Lessons run from 7:30am and finish by 8:00pm. No transportation fee for the student anywhere in Metro Manila. Outside Metro Manila, travel is quoted.

I teach in English.

What to tell me about your health

Before the first lesson, tell me about anything that affects your body: an injury, a surgery, a condition you manage, pain that comes and goes. If you are pregnant or have given birth recently, tell me that too.

If you are pregnant, check with your OB or midwife before you start, and read about private prenatal yoga. After birth, we begin once your OB or midwife has cleared you to exercise; postpartum lessons at home explains how those work. I am a yoga teacher, not a medical professional, and the health disclaimer that applies to every lesson sets out what a lesson is and is not.

Getting the room ready

You do not need to buy anything. I bring the mats and props. On your side, clear a patch of floor about the size of a mat with a little room around it, somewhere you will not be interrupted until the lesson ends. Wear something soft you can move in. Bare feet are fine.

If you would like a friend or your partner to join you, a lesson for two at home is planned for both of you. Tell me when you book.

The lesson itself, from arrival to savasana

A private lesson is 90 minutes. We begin by talking: how you slept, how your body feels today, what you would like to leave with. There is no fixed class plan, so this conversation shapes everything that follows.

Then we practise. In a first lesson I move slowly and explain as we go: where to put your feet, how to use a block, how to breathe while you hold a shape. If something does not suit your body, we change it until it does. You are never asked to hold anything you cannot, and you can stop and rest whenever you like.

If you are new to yoga, beginner lessons at home explains how I teach first-timers. If you already practise, we build on what you know.

The last minutes: mini massage and sound healing

Every lesson ends lying down. You settle into savasana, the final resting pose, and I give a mini massage for the neck and shoulders. Then sound healing to close: you stay still and listen while the room goes quiet around you.

When it ends, I bring you back gently and you sit up in your own time. The yoga, the mini massage and the sound healing are all part of every lesson, and all in the price.

After the lesson

Drink some water, and notice how you feel over the rest of the day. If a shape felt good, or one felt wrong, tell me on Viber, and I use it to plan your next lesson.

A few practical things for every lesson with me. No cancellations. To reschedule, message me at least 24 hours before your lesson. I ask for your consent before anyone is filmed or photographed.

If you have more questions, answers to common questions about lessons covers most of them, and who I am and how I trained tells you about me.

Questions

Can I have a first lesson if I have practised yoga for years?

Yes. A first lesson is simply the first time we practise together. If you already know your way around a mat, we spend less time on basics and more on what you want from your practice now.

Do I need to buy a mat or props before the first lesson?

No. I bring the mats and props. If you have a mat you love, you are welcome to use it.

What if I feel nervous before my first lesson?

That is very common, and it is fine. Tell me in your first message. There is no audience and no class to keep up with, and we go at whatever pace feels right to you.
