Joahnna Lee teaches private postpartum yoga at your home, condo or office in Metro Manila. A 90-minute private lesson is ₱4,500 and includes a mini massage in savasana and sound healing to close; book on Viber at +63 968 190 0429.

The body does not simply return to what it was before birth; it finds a new way forward. Through gentle movement, breath, and rest, this practice offers space to listen, reconnect, and meet yourself as you are. Gentle, mostly on the floor, and paced by how you feel that day.

What postpartum yoga actually is

In the old way, the teacher chose the practice. Here is when I'd choose postpartum yoga.

A slow practice for the months after birth, mostly on the floor. We start with breath and simple movement and build only as far as feels right that day. Nothing has to look like the practice you had before. I am certified in prenatal and postnatal (postpartum) yoga through Doula School International, and each lesson starts where your body is that week.

Bolsters, cushions and soft blankets arranged into a supported resting place on a yoga mat in a bright bedroom.

Who postpartum yoga suits

For new mothers who have been cleared to move again and want to start gently, at home. Your first baby or your third, whether you have practised before or never have.

What a postpartum yoga lesson feels like

Quiet and unhurried, mostly on the floor. We change or stop a shape the moment it doesn't feel right. Some weeks you will have more energy than others, and the lesson follows you rather than a plan.

Bolsters, blankets, blocks and a strap. I bring them, so all you need is a clear patch of floor.

If you are wondering whether it is time, how soon after birth yoga can start sets out what to ask your doctor or midwife first, and a gentle guide to postpartum recovery covers the weeks around it.

Questions about postpartum yoga

When can I start after giving birth?

Once your doctor or midwife has cleared you for exercise, and not before. Every recovery is different, so I don't work to a set number of weeks. Tell me what they said when you book, and we start from there.

I had a caesarean. Can I still do this?

Yes, once your doctor has cleared you. Tell me how you gave birth and we keep well away from anything that asks much of your abdomen. I am not a medical professional, so anything that hurts is a question for your doctor.

Can my baby be in the room?

Yes. Plenty of lessons happen with a baby asleep nearby or lying on the mat beside you. If they need feeding or settling, we pause, and pick up again when you are ready. Nothing is lost by stopping.

Do I need to have done prenatal yoga first?

No. Plenty of new mothers come to yoga for the first time after birth. We start from where your body is that week, and nothing asks for experience or flexibility.

Can you come to my home in Makati or BGC?

Yes. Lessons happen at your home or condo across Metro Manila, including Makati and BGC, so you do not have to travel with a newborn. I bring the mats and props.

Message from a student: Thank you for such a beautiful, relaxing, and healing session. I didn't expect it to move me this much. It felt like a gentle release I didn't know I needed. Hoping to join another yoga sesh soon!
